Square end mills are solid carbide cutting tools with a flat, 90° end, used for slotting, profiling, side milling and pocketing. Kwan Fung square end mills are ground in our own Shenzhen factory, with coating options for steel, stainless steel, cast iron and non-ferrous materials.

What is a square end mill used for?
A square end mill cuts with a flat 90° end and is used for slotting, profiling, side milling, pocketing and shoulder milling on flat-bottomed features.
How many flutes should I choose?
Two or three flutes give more chip space for aluminium and other soft materials. Four flutes give a smoother finish and more strength for steel and stainless steel. Choose based on material, slot depth and chip evacuation.
What is the difference between a square and a ball nose end mill?
A square end mill has a sharp 90° corner and produces flat floors and sharp internal corners. A ball nose end mill has a hemispherical tip for 3D contouring and fillets.
